Abstract

The issuance of Law No. 38/2009 concerning Post marked the start of a free market courier business in Indonesia. Facing free competition, the sentence that is often used is quality and cost.

The calculated cost is the cost allocated to produce a unit product. The unit cost of postal services is influenced by three variables, namely operating costs, capacity, and time. These three variables are operational performance indicators as well as performance control media.

The discussion is focused on managing the delivery with a geospatial approach. Currently, delivery control is carried out on desk by controlling input and output. Delivery inputs are routinely processed and handed over to the postman to be delivered on a certain schedule.

The output of the shipment is controlled after the delivery is complete, namely the number of undelivered items and the delivery receipts that have been successfully submitted.

Delivery process management is carried out based on work schedules. The geospatial approach provides a new perspective in managing delivery processes.

This approach is for mapping areas between adjacent areas, identifying the grey areas that occur, both overlapping and no-man's land.

While the mapping of the delivery route is intended to obtain a complete picture of the road route traversed to deliver postal items.

The rearrangement of areas and inter-route routes resulted in an increase in the average post delivery speed from below 20 km/h to an average of 25 km/h and the distance traveled by almost 50%.
